Mr. Brown

Bobby Brown used to be the bizness! I remember growing up dancing around the house thinking I was Bobby Brown (female version). I'm having a Bobby moment now...

Bump!

Dance routine by Xavier Michaux, song by Trish. This song is very reminiscent of the Kelis+Neptunes sound I really miss!

Making Moves

A dancer/choreographer that I really looove is Danielle Polanco – remember the girl from Omarion’s Touch video? Well she’s a young dancer who has choreographed and danced for artists such as Janet Jackson, Amerie and many Beyonce videos including Run The World, plus she's also appeared in movies such as Step Up 2.

Here’s the vid that had me in the mirror practising the moves for dayzzz!

Speaking of Beyonce, here’s a video of her doing the matrixshe took it there!

...& am I the only one not too crazy about her new 4 album? I do love thi song though:

I still bump this

It was Janet Jackson's 44th bday on Sunday so I feel to give her a tribute and post all my fav vids but I can't lie...that's long! Coz seriously, she has too many hits. So I'm going to just post up one; I chose this one because I still bump this tune like it just got released yesterday. Love the vid too; she may have lost it a bit now but Janet will forever be my favourite female dancer:) I love this song and video loads! Enjoy...

Black and White Movers!

For those who don’t know, I am a crazy dance enthusiast. I love all types of dance and tap dance is certainly no exception. Here are a few videos of legendary tap dancers such as The Nicholas Brothers, Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Eleanor Powell, and The Berry Brothers. I am left in absolute awe whenever I watch them, and other greats, dance. Amazing!

Here are some other dance videos I've enjoyed watching on Youtube:)

I was going to add more but I think that's enough:p

Dancing for Da Truth

A few weeks back, American gospel rapper, Da Truth was in London shooting the video for his single U Ready? taken from his album ‘The Big Picture’. I had the pleasure of dancing for Da Truth on the set of the video, with gospel dance groups Child of Zion and Re:Birth. Here’s the single featuring J-Soul

You can find out more about Da Truth, Child of Zion and Re:Birth on their myspaces.

Monday Movers

Since I love dancing so much, I thought I’d dedicate a post to it so enjoy!

Cultural Dance

Shisha won the Dancehall Queen title back in 2007 -she’s ‘ard!

As much as I love dancehall moves, I love dance moves from the motherland…

African dance group: Mambo

Nigerian street dance group- x-fellaz

(Does anyone know the name of that Nigerian tune they dance to at 1.03; let me know coz that tune is ‘ard!)

Back then…

...I thought Ginuwine and Mya were good dancers. Here’s Ginuwine in his hey dayz…

Mya is going to be on the new series of Dancing with the Stars despite having the advantage of being a trained dancer. She has to merk it, I’ll definitely be tuning into that. Here’s Mya having a dance rehearsal…

…and her showing off some tap dancing moves. I wanna learn how to tap dance!

Nu’ Skool Movers

And we all know that Beyonce can dance, I love the body popping dancing she does in the Sweet Dreams video. Here’s a vid of her dancers- they good!

I posted a vid of Beyonce doing the matrix, well here’s Ciara showing us how it’s done. She makes it look so easy but it really isn’t! (Her shoes are emosh!)

I can’t wait for Ciara’s video to ‘Like a Surgeon’, I know she’s going to merk the dancing.

I saw a vid of Teyana Taylor free styling ages ago and she was so sick, but I can’t seem to find that vid anywhere :-( I really wanted to post it up but here’s a substitute for the meantime … (Love this girl's hair!)

Ol’Skool Movers

I absolutely love James Brown’s dancing style; his foot work is emosh!

Pure Humour

I still can’t get enough of this video!

Freaky Moves

I only saw this video for the first time today and thought it was worth posting because the dancing is crazy- I was freaked out! This man is dancing like he has no bones in his body, it’s just plain freaky but it’s ard! Make sure you watch the video (you have to watch the whole thing!) and let me know what you think…

On the note of dancing, I think I’ll go back into dancing this summer- might try out some aerobics. One, because I love dancing, and two, because I am ridiculously unfit! I can barely walk up two flights of stairs without huffing and puffing…not a good look!

Happy Bday Aaliyah!

I just found out that today would have been Aaliyah’s 30th Birthday and thought I’d do a blog post to celebrate the artist who inspired many during her life. I remember like it was yesterday when I found out that she was dead- I cried. You just don’t understand how much I loved her; would play her music all the time and copy the ‘hair swooping over one eye’ look. So happy 30th birthday Aaliyah, mwah!

Here are a few of my favourite Aaliyah vids, enjoy.

Cool Choreography

I appreciate all type of dancing; tap, ballroom, salsa, contemporary, street…you name it all, I love it. One of my favourite choreographed videos of 2008 was Beyonce’s Single Ladies, which was inspired by the late Broadway producer Bob Fosse. Below is the original video which was recreated by Beyonce:

Here are just a few of my other favourite 2008 choreographed dance videos that I would have loved to be in!

Adele- Chasing Pavements:

Electrik Red- Drink In My Cup ft The-Dream (Skip to 1:46)

H two O ft Platnum- What’s It Gonna Be:

Usher- Love in this Club: (Skip to 4:37)

Ciara- Go Girl ft T-Pain:

Ok, I know this video wasn’t released in 2008 but it’s one of my favourite dance videos of all time, besides, I can’t blog about best dance choreography without bringing one of the Jacksons into it! Enjoy...

Janet Jackson- Pleasure Principle:

P.S. Happy New Year people!
