Do Right Woman, Do Right Man
Aretha Franklin is singing the truth in this tune; I love this song. If you want a good woman, you need to be a good man and vice versa. It’s logic really but for some reason there are deluded men, and women alike, out there saying they want this and want that but they aren’t even half of what they fricking want! Ok I think I just got inspired now to rant about this because it really grinds my gears when narcissistic people think they are deserving of what they’re undeserving of! Article soon come, until then, enjoy the lovely sounds of Aretha;)

You can't hate the roots of a tree...
"You can't hate the roots of a tree without hating the tree; you can't hate your origin without hating yourself" - Malcom X
I remember a while back, like a good 6 years ago, my Caribbean friend at the time said to me, ‘you have really nice hair; why is your hair so nice?’ With a confused face I just shrugged, ‘I don’t know, all the girls in my family have nice hair so I guess it’s in my genes’, then she had the nerve to say, ‘…but you’re African!’ *pause* What did this girl just say to me?! Yeah, I pulled the same face you probably just did! But I didn’t go crazy on her, I understood that she spoke out of ignorance and from a mind programmed to perceive everything African in a negative light. It did really get to me though, and it frustrated me knowing that generations of people shared her mentality. Anyways, no one could ever say something like that to me now and get away with it, I would fly kick ‘em! I love everything African, it was the only way I could love myself properly.
Here are two Malcom X speeches that I really love; a lot more people should hear it.

That Girl
I love this poem and her (Alysia Harris) delivery was on point. She put soooo much emotion into it and I think that she touches an area most women can relate to. Ladies, let's try not to be 'that girl'...enjoy!

We Are Multipliers
Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater.
If you give her sperm, she’ll give you a baby.
If you give her a house, she’ll give you a home.
If you give her groceries, she’ll give you a meal.
If you give her a smile, she’ll give you her heart.
She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her.
So, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of shit.
-Hahaa, love it;-)

People are like Trees
What’s going on? It seems everyone around me has just come out of a long term relationship this year or they are on the verge of breaking up. I know a handful of people, excluding the countless Facebook statuses declaring to the world (as though we even care) that they are single. Forget us being in Winter, my friend Broadband called it ‘break-up’ season which could be rightly so! I saw this video yesterday, a scene from the latest Tyler Perry movie Madea Goes to Jail. She, I mean he, gives good advice about moving on and compares people to different parts of a tree…have a listen- it's alright, still!
Quickly off the topic, I only recently saw a video of Charlie Chaplin’s speech from his movie The Great Dictator (Charlie Chaplin movies were big!). I listened to it and was flabbergasted! Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit but it was a powerful speech so make sure you check it out here. Oh and he was from my area in South London- see, you don’t only get hoodrats from South!
