Quickly off the topic, I only recently saw a video of Charlie Chaplin’s speech from his movie The Great Dictator (Charlie Chaplin movies were big!). I listened to it and was flabbergasted! Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit but it was a powerful speech so make sure you check it out here. Oh and he was from my area in South London- see, you don’t only get hoodrats from South!

People are like Trees
What’s going on? It seems everyone around me has just come out of a long term relationship this year or they are on the verge of breaking up. I know a handful of people, excluding the countless Facebook statuses declaring to the world (as though we even care) that they are single. Forget us being in Winter, my friend Broadband called it ‘break-up’ season which could be rightly so! I saw this video yesterday, a scene from the latest Tyler Perry movie Madea Goes to Jail. She, I mean he, gives good advice about moving on and compares people to different parts of a tree…have a listen- it's alright, still!

Missing those Missy beats…
Yesterday, me and my friend were reminiscing on the old Missy Elliott songs from her Supa Dupa Fly and Da Real World albums. There was an era where I was feeling every Missy and Timbaland produced song. They were the business! Missy Elliott’s latest materials haven’t been doing it for me at all, but on the flipside I must admit Timbaland has been doing a lot. Anyways, below are a few videos that take me back to my street dance days…good times.
Hit Em Wit Da Hee
All ‘N My Grill
The Rain
Beep Me 911
She’s a Bitch
Sock It 2 Me (Supa Dupa Fly)
Hot Boyz
Aaliyah: One in a Million
Ginuwine: What’s So Different?
A bit off, but remember when Hype Williams’ videos were the ish! I might have to do a blog post on him soon…

Comical Commercials
I don’t watch TV so the only way I see and hear about commercials is on the net or in lectures. Since I study Marketing, I like watching commercials to see what methods are being used to communicate a product to the consumer. I definitely like the creativity that companies are using for their commercials lately. It seems that advertisements are going for a fun, comical approach which most of the time seems to have absolutely nothing to do with the product the company is trying to sell. However this method works extremely well because it manages to grab the consumers attention (which is difficult nowadays due to the overdose of advertising) plus it gets them talking about it (creating word of mouth). What makes this new advertising trend even cooler is that the consumer, so entertained, may not even acknowledge that a product is being sold to them which is great since consumers are fed up of being continuously bombarded with ‘buy my product’ messages. Yet, the company will successfully imprint their brand in the consumer’s mind subconsciously- great stuff! I heart marketing…

I Like Her Style!
I’m digging the style of these three ladies: Agyness Deyn (British model), Pixie Geldof (Bob Geldof’s daughter) and Zoe Kravitz (Lenny Kravitz’s daughter- duh!). I like their unique fashion sense, from the hair accessories to the shoes on their feet. Yeah I admit, at times their style is just weird…but I like weird! So I’ll give them two thumbs up.

High on Love...
Now, I know everyone remembers this tune by Toni Braxton. It was released in 1996, but it really doesn't feel that long- how old were you then? I was only 9 years old! What on earth was I doing listening to songs like this! lol. I blame it on my stepdad who used to play the album, Secrets, all the time. If you don’t know about that album, get to know- it's big. It seems appropriate to put this video up since its ‘February 14th’ …yeah, a normal day for some people like me! Any-who, this was and still is my jam which I dedicate to all those high on love tonight, enjoy ;-)
